Delta Air Lines' plan to add Saudi Arabian Airlines to its SkyTeam Alliance of partnering companies would require...to ban Jews and holders of Israeli passports from boarding flights from New York or Washington bound for Jeddah, prompting…accusations of illegal religious discrimination…Washington attorney Jeffrey Lovitky...raised the issue with the Delta CEO…when he discovered the plan while making travel arrangements. He said Anderson didn't respond, but…a coordinator for the airline's "Customer Care" did write a letter. She blamed the plan to discriminate on Saudi Arabian requirements…"Delta must also comply with all applicable laws in every country it serves and by the same token passengers are responsible to obtain the necessary travel documents required for entry into another country prior to their day of travel,"…[also refers to Aeroflot, AeroMexico, AirEuropa, Air France, Alitalia, China Southern, CSA Czech Airlines, Kenya Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air (part of Hanjin Group), TAROM, Vietnam Airlines]

Visit: Delta Air Lines Denies Jewish Discrimination [USA]
Author:
John Morgan, Fly.co.uk
Dated:
27 Jun 2011
Delta Air Lines strongly denied reports that were published online, claiming that the airline is discriminating against Jewish passengers due to the joining of Saudi Arabian Airlines with the SkyTeam Alliance next year. The carrier says that it doesn’t discriminate nor condone discrimination against any consumers in regards to nationality, religion, race, gender or age...Delta Air Lines says it doesn’t operate services in Saudi Arabia and doesn’t sell seats on services to the nation that are operated by other carriers (otherwise known as a codeshare agreement), nor does it have plans to offer codeshare flights or other cross-carrier benefits with Saudi Arabian Airlines. The deal it has with the carrier only allows passengers to book flights on multiple airlines – similar to the standard interline deal that the Saudi carrier has with US Airways, American Airlines and Alaska Airlines...[The Saudi] embassy says that the passenger flight restrictions on Saudi Arabian Airlines are only rumor and are false. [also refers to Air France, KLM]
