Angloplat's own audit slams safety standards [So. Africa]

Health and safety audits undertaken by the health and safety inspectorate of Anglo Platinum [part of Anglo American]...as far back as 1999 raised concerns about the mining group's commitment to safety and showed there was more emphasis on blame than on fixing problems...a research report released yesterday has shown...Last week... Angloplat's management said it was shutting down its Rustenburg Platinum underground operations to address the deterioration in safety at the mines.
