Four mineworkers were killed and six others critically injured in an accident at Botswana's state-owned BCL copper mine. The minister of Minerals and Energy as well as the mine management confirmed the accident. Members of the community, as well as Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU), say the accident, which comes after 11 other workers are reported to have lost their lives in accidents at the mine in 2014 and 2015, occurred because of poor safety standards at the mine. The Minister of Minerals and Energy has initiated investigations into the accident.
