Caffe Nero accused over tax affairs in viral letter [UK]

Caffe Nero has refused to comment on a letter that has gone viral on social media accusing it of failing to "pay its dues" by avoiding corporation tax...Caffe Nero, which has more than 500 UK cafes, made a pre-tax profit of £21.1m in 2013 and paid no corporation tax. A spokeswoman said there were "lots of things" in Mr Pottinger's letter that were "factually incorrect". Asked what these were, she said: "We don't want to get into it."...Mr Pottinger...said [in his letter] that the corporation tax Caffe Nero had avoided could have been used to pay for public services... "Loyalty cuts both ways. But you seem to have a disconnect when it comes to your responsibilities to paying your dues... There is no suggestion that Caffe Nero has done anything illegal.
