Charged LuxLeaks journalist calls for more whistleblower protection

A French journalist who has been charged in Luxembourg after investigating tax-avoidance schemes called Monday for more protection for whistleblowers in Europe, as he testified in an EU parliamentary probe on such fiscal practices. Edouard Perrin worked with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) on a project that accused Luxembourg of helping multinational companies avoid billions of euros in taxes - in a scandal that came to be known last year as LuxLeaks…"It is both symptomatic and dramatic to see that in this affair, the only actions existing until now are directed against those who revealed the problem and not against those who are the sources of the problem," he added…Luxembourg prosecutors announced last month that they were bringing charges against Perrin in connection with a complaint filed by accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2012 - one of the companies that the ICIJ identified as having negotiated Luxembourg tax deals…[Refers to PricewaterhouseCoopers]
