Commentary: International Corporate Accountability Roundtable Reflects on the Third Annual Forum

"Mo and the Movement: Reflections on the Third Annual United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights", 8 Dec 2014

On December 1st-3rd, 2014, the third annual United Nations Forum on Business and Human Rights was convened at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. Chaired by Dr. Mohamed "Mo" Ibrahim, the Sudanese telecom billionaire turned philanthropist, the Forum brought together over 2000 registered attendees from civil society, academia, business and government...there emerged to be some general crosscutting findings...Governments are taking up the charge to examine their laws, policies and precedents and are starting to understand that change starts with them...the dialogue is becoming substantive...business isn't afraid..."treaty" isn't a bad word...This Forum too perhaps is just a small step. But it's nonetheless important.
