company response: Newmont Responds to New York Times

Newmont Mining Corp...this week denied a media report that its gold mining operations polluted Indonesian waters and caused villagers to become ill. Responding to a front-page story in Wednesday's edition of The New York Times, Denver-based Newmont said in a statement that its Minahasa mine in North Sulawesi, Indonesia was never a threat to local residents.
