EPEAT Takes Wildly Successful Green IT Certification Global

The Green Electronics Council today announced that it was expanding its environmentally friendly electronics certification, the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), to include 40 countries around the globe…The EPEAT certification offers manufacturers three levels of achievement based on points achieved…These criteria cover the entire life cycle of a product, from a reduction of the toxic materials used in production of the products, to the energy it uses while it is in operation, and the recyclability of the materials at the end of life…The growth has been driven by…an overall increase in demand for energy-efficient computers and monitors (and soon televisions), as well as purchasing requirements from large-scale corporate and government buyers.
