Foreign & Local Newmont Execs Detained [Indonesia]

Police have reportedly detained six executives of US-based gold mining giant Newmont, including two Americans and one Australian, in connection with allegations the company’s subsidiary in North Sulawesi province has polluted a local bay with toxic waste...In Denver, Newmont spokesman Doug Hock said..."We see no reason for there to be detention. The mine is no longer in operation. We just think this is totally unnecessary." [also refers to PT Dharma Niaga]
