Japan: NGOs publish guidelines for seeking free, prior and informed consent in REDD+ projects

The Global Environmental Forum and the Japan Tropical Forest Action Network (JATAN) have published detailed guidelines for companies and other organizations on seeking free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) in the implementation of REDD+ projects. The guidelines, which were created through a consultative process, are available in English and Japanese, and provide detailed guidance on a process that respects the rights of indigenous and other affected communities.
