The explosion occurred…in South Zhezkazgan mine of KAZ Minerals company (former Kazakhmys) at the depth of 140 meters. A 23-year-old miner died at the spot and another 45-year-old worker was hospitalized with various injuries...A criminal case was opened under the Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan - Violation of the safety rules at explosion-hazardous facilities or in explosion-hazardous workshops resulting in the death of a person or other serious consequences.
