Liberia: Community attributes contamination of water, crops to pollution by Chinese company; includes company comments

'CICO's waste pollutes wells, creeks', 1 Oct 2015: Waste…[and] chemical fluids from the Chinese International Construction Company or CICO have contaminated wells and creeks in Cinta Township…leaving hundreds of community residents affected. The pollution has left the affected area without safe drinking water…[R]esidents have abandoned wells…because harmful waste…flow[ing] into them [has] caus[ed]…serious contamination and hazard. Crops…and…marine [stock]…are also…affected, threatening [the] livelihood[s] of…people…[O]ne of the affected residents…said he has res[orted]…to buying mineral water for himself and his family, adding…that crops and vegetables are…damaged and the situation is worsening…Other residents lamented, “We don’t have any means of getting water now…CICO, why do you treat us like this.”…Safety Manager at CICO, Kelvin E.
