A legal aid group plans to sue gold mining firm PT Newmont Minahasa Raya (NMR) for Rp5 trillion ($546.5 million) for allegedly dumping toxic tailings waste in Buyat Bay in North Sulawesi province...The company has denied any wrongdoing, pointing out that it does not use mercury; whereas the heavy metal is used by thousands of illegal miners in the province.
