New partnerships for child nutrition [India]

Bhavishya, meaning future in Sanskrit, is connected to a larger global programme called the Partnership for Child Nutrition, an alliance between the Synergos Institute, Unilever and UNICEF-India...Working first in the state of Maharashtra, Bhavihsya brings together a network of organizations with an interest in child nutrition and social development. These include corporations such as Hindustan Unilever, ICICI Bank, Tata and HDFC; government agencies…; civil society groups…; and multilateral agencies such as UNICEF-India..Any one of [the Bhavihsya] initiatives in isolation may not be particularly newsworthy. That they have been generated through a multi-sectoral coalition involving Indian government, business and civil society is at least a cause for hope and at best an important breakthrough.
