The Study analyses the legal foundations of the implementation of human rights standards in business activities. It is part of a series of baseline studies prepared by the Swiss Centre of Expertise in Human Rights for each of its clusters. The Study focuses on the State’s duties relating to Business and Human Rights. In particular, it illuminates the currently applicable state duty to protect...the corresponding remedies in case of human rights abuses...and in light of their practical relevance, the sensitive areas of the labour market with regard to human rights...as well. Overall, the Study shall serve as a mapping of the current legal status quo, and thus contribute to a more in-depth discussion of this complex subject area.
