[PDF] [Letter from Environmental Defender Law Center to Petróleo Brasileiro, SA, Petrobras] [Brazil]

…We…draw Petrobras’ attention to the situation of Alexandre Anderson de Souza…victim of violence since he started actively defending the rights of the fishermen affected by Petrobras’ pipeline works at the Guanabara Bay…[and] its responsibility to the families of the fishermen of the Mauá Beach…for the extreme vulnerability…due to the installation of the pipelines…which have rendered fishing unviable...[D]e Souza…has…been attacked six times, has been receiving death threats…[One of De Souza's] colleagues...has already been assassinated...hundreds of fishermen and their families...have lost up to 80% of their income and are in a situation of extreme financial difficulty as they are now unable to earn their living...It appears that Petrobras is directly responsible for the loss of income of the fishermen’s families.
