Shanghai: 284 injured in metro system’s “darkest day” [China]

The double train collision on Shanghai’s subway system on Tuesday 27 September, left 284 people injured and 95 hospitalised…[The crash was] apparently due to a power cut which caused a failure of the signal system…Two months ago…a deadly collision between two bullet trains in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, resulted in 40 people dead and over 200 injured…[This was] seemingly caused by signal failure…Casco…also supplied the signalling systems for the bullet train link at Wenzhou. Casco is a joint-venture company between state-owned China Railway Signal & Communication Corp (CRSC) and France’s Alstom.
