Tata Steel receives CSR award from US-India Business Council

The US-India Business Council (USIBC) has conferred the 'award for corporate social responsibility in public health' to...Tata Steel [part of Tata Group]...Receiving the award, given to recognise their contribution for combating HIV/AIDS, [managing director] B Muthuraman said that Tata Steel...has been conducting approximately 250 aids awareness programmes within the workplace since the last ten years annually. Tata Steel evolved a corporate social model to prevent HIV/AIDS and constituted a core group - AIDS and Nodal Centre - to focus on the disease and formulate strategies for its control and prevention back in 1994, he said.
