"Where Markets Lead, Will Justice Follow?" Ford Foundation asks 8 change makers

In September 2014 Ford Forum launched a "Ford Forum" discussion on "Where Markets Lead, Will Justice Follow?" - with commentaries by eight opinion-leaders, and open for discussion.

As Ford Foundation's President Darren Walker says in the introduction:

'...In an era in which mass inequality has become a recognized economic phenomenon—one that separates the haves and have-nots in a way that the “lift all boats” economy of an earlier era did not—I feel it's incumbent upon us to examine in equal measure the foundation’s “obligations to our economic systems” and our economic systems’ obligations to all of us.

What can we do to help individuals and communities become more resilient in the face of market-driven inequality and the social instability and economic insecurity that are its offspring? How do we support efforts to change a system in which our own grantmaking resources are cultivated? How can we inform a more inclusive capitalism in which free enterprise flourishes and yet—as our mission and values demand—a broader justice prevails?...'

The 8 commentaries are:

Raymond Offenheiser on the Business of Rights

Victoria Tauli-Corpuz on Indigenous Innovation

Judith Samuelson on Next-Gen Business Thinking

Otto Scharmer on New Bridges for Old Divides

Rebecca Blank on A Stronger Civic Sector

Rajiv Joshi on Reimagining Capitalism

Susan Crawford on The Online Marketplace

Robert Shiller on Why Government Matters
