Starbucks 'blatantly' discriminated against a one-armed applicant during a job interview, court documents allege. Eli Pierre, who was born with half an arm on his left side, claims he 'was not hired for the position because of his disability, despite his capable work history,'...Pierre has a long work history in the hospitality industry and had previously worked as a water and barman without problems, he says...The coffee chain says that they considered Pierre's candidacy based on his responses and qualifications and 'decided not to move forward' with his application...[T]he suit claims: 'There was 'no discussion of any possible accommodations of Pierre...'Pierre was simply summarily dismissed based on his appearance/disability/perceived disability...' the complaint alleged...A spokesman for Starbucks...: 'We employ many individuals with a wide range of disabilities. A disability such as Mr Pierre's would not disqualify him, or any other candidate, for employment at Starbucks.
