UN Intergovernmental Working Group elaborating a legally binding instrument on business & human rights
Daily Updates
The 9th session of the UN open-ended intergovernmental working group on transnational corporations and other business enterprises with respect to human rights (IGWG) to discuss the binding treaty took place on 23-27 October 2023 at the UN in Geneva.
The 2023 updated draft of the legally binding instrument served as the basis for the discussions at the IGWG meeting. For this Updated Draft, the Chair took into account the following:
- the concrete textual proposals submitted by States on the 3rd Revised Draft during the 8th session, and on the Suggested Chair Proposals, and
- the outcomes of intersessional consultations that took place between April and June 2023.
A table indicating where elements of the 3rd Revised Draft may be found in the 2023 Updated Draft is available here.
The text of the updated draft with the textual proposals by States during the 9th session is available here.
