In July, it was reported 27 migrant workers from Jharkhand experienced labour rights violations in Cameroon. They were not paid their wages and were allegedly “forced to work against their will”. The workers were left unable to afford basic living costs such as food. The workers were allegedly employed by a contractor working on a Larsen & Toubro construction project called Vinayak Construction Project.

On 22 July, Daiji World reported the workers had been repatriated to their home states after they released a video message seeking help from the Jharkhand and Central governments. The article says the company paid the workers' pending wages.

In July 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Larsen & Toubro to respond to the articles. Larsen & Toubro did not respond.
