Professor Larissa Bombardi, researcher at the Department of Geography of the University of São Paulo (USP), published an extensive open letter reporting attacks on her work, especially after the publication of her atlas "Geography of Pesticide Use in Brazil and Connections with the European Union", in 2019. Mother of two children, the master, doctor and post-doctorate in Human Geography says that after the launch of the book in Europe, she began to be intimidated. She reports that the intimidation escalated after the largest chain of organic supermarkets in Scandinavia boycotted Brazilian products, from knowledge of the contents of the Atlas. In August 2020 the teacher was the victim of a burglary at her home and had her old laptop taken away. Larissa is also the author of studies, in 2020, where she relates pig farming and Covid-19. Because of these texts, she says she has suffered intimidation from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein Producers and from Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) itself. Larissa left the country and went to Belgium to conduct her research with a scholarship at the Université Libre Bruxelles.
