…I have been working for 10 months as an operator at Shwe D Z garment factory located in Industrial Zone (1) in Shwe Pyi Thar Township…The factory manager held a meeting with all the employees on September 6, 2022…she informed that the factory has to stop operat[ing] for 3 months and she requested us to [not] take the salaries for these months…another meeting with all the employees was made on September 16. On that day, the manager said the factory has to lay off the workers...The manager said the factory management has already issued notices. But no one knows who are being sent notices. On September 23, all the workers in our Line No. 3 have been called to sign…a contract of agreement for [the] layoff[s]. But we didn’t agree [to] it since no one has been sent [a] notice before, and also on September 6, the factory hired new workers…As we couldn’t agree [to] it, we sent the complaints to the related government offices. When the factory management came to the government office today, they said they cannot give the salary that they have to pay on September 5. We demanded [they] give us a month’s salary, including [skill] fes, working without leave, and grade fees as well. But the factory management has declined to give the one month’s salary…instead, they said they will be able to give the wages for 23 days. We sent the complaint to the government offices again for us to be able to get the pay for September…
