The Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA) alleged that on 29 June, San Miguel Corporation through Bricktree Properties, “sent 16 fully armed masked men, fired shots which nearly hit two kids, and  invaded the island” prompted by the company’s plan to develop a white beach property in Bugsuk islands in the Philippines. PAKISAMA alleges that the company began to harass the residents of Marihangin in October 2022 by sending a lawyer and former army generals to convince the residents to leave the place. Moreover, community leader Jomly Callon allegedly received a death threat.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited San Miguel Corporation to respond, it did not.
