Working conditions in export garment factories in National Capital Region, India: purchasing practices - Arisa

Arisa is inviting you to two informative and interactive webinars on working conditions in international garment supply chains in the National Capital Region (NCR) in India.

The National Capital Region is a major garment production hub in India and, as is the case with other garment hubs in India, risks on labour rights violations are prevalent.

This webinar will look into the working conditions of workers in export garment factories in India's National Capital Region (NCR), with a particular focus on the influence of purchasing practices by brands. It will explain the general situation in the region and explore in what way purchasing practices link to certain common issues present, such as excessive overtime, interstate competition, and the presence of daily wagers.

Join this webinar to gain more understanding of common issues for export garment factory workers, and on how to shape purchasing practices in such a way that they can support positive change.

There will be room for discussion and Q&A.

Speakers:

Nilambar Bhuinya and Jekib Ahmed – Directors and Lead Consultants at Paradigm Shift

Ganesh Kumar – Independent lawyer working for labour and human rights in Delhi/NCR

Sander Jongerius – CSR Specialist at The Sting Companies b.v.

Moderated by Sandra Claassen, Director at Arisa
