On 6 December, 2021, 36 villagers from Chana District, Songkhla Province, Thailand, were arrested after they camped in front of Government House asking for an update on the promise made last year to reconsider the Chana industrial project, that they claim would affect their health, livelihoods and the environment. Most of the arrested were women. The project is driven by a public-private partnership, with funding from two private oil and gas giants: TPI Polene Power and IRPC, a subsidiary of state-owned conglomerate PTT.
