Alsico Group's response to allegations of imprisonment of a trade unionist

...In Madagascar, we saw that one individual deliberately harmed the social dialogue by posing on Facebook as an full elected trade union delegate, posting confidential information from the social dialogue. This with the aim to inflict harm to E-Toile.

Alsico wants to contribute to an economy that guarantees social rights. We do this by relying in all our sites on strong local management that promotes our values and always puts social dialogue first. In Madagascar, we strive hard to create a healthy and sustainable working environment and create a constructive social climate.

...Mr. Sento has no formal rights to attend the meetings where the discussion with our social partners takes place... [he] disclosed the content of these meetings on social networks posing falsely as a full elected delegate... we learned he acted without the consent of his fellow union delegates... This appeared to us as he used the contents of the social dialogue to promote his personal image to a broad audience...
