Australia: United Petroleum invited to respond to allegations of wage theft by three cos. operating outlets; United Petroleum did not respond

Three companies running United Petroleum outlets in Australia are facing court actions from the Fair Work Ombudsman over alleged underpayments to four migrant workers. KLM Foods operated outlets in Sandy Bay and Kingston, Vizaan employed a worker in Kingston and Sai Enterprises operated an outlet in Queenstown. The companies are alleged to have broken workplace laws by refusing to pay annual leave entitlements, failing to issue workers with pay slips and not providing written agreements for part-time staff.

After the Fair Work Ombudsmand began its investigation underpayments for three workers were reportedly rectified though KLM Foods allegedly demanded an unlawful cashback payment from one worker.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited United Petroleum to respond to allegations of wage theft at its outlets and to outline how it ensures labour laws and standards are upheld by companies contracted to manage and operate its outlets; United Petroleum did not respond.
