A protest by Hamilton4Palestine closed Leavitt Boulevard and blocked access to L3 Harris in Waterdown Friday morning.
In an Instagram post Nov. 10, the group said it was blockading L3 Harris because “L3Harris technology is contracted widely by intelligence, military, and police forces throughout Turtle Island, and globally.”...
The group, described in its Instagram biography as a “grassroots organization dedicated to engaging the Palestinian diaspora, the oppressed voices and the fight for freedom,” said in a Nov. 10 Instagram post it is a “group of Indigenous peoples of many nations and settler accomplices.”...
L3 Harris opened its 330,000-square-foot facility in Waterdown in 2021. The company specializes in surveillance solutions, microwave weaponry and electronic warfare and produces command and control systems and products, wireless equipment, tactical radios, avionics and electronics systems and night vision equipment, among other things.
Hamilton4Palestine said in the post the blockade was not just an act of solidarity with the Palestinian people, but to “stand against settler colonialism more broadly and act in solidarity with Indigenous people across Turtle Island.”...
L3 Harris did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the protest.
