Chiefway's response (Just for Show report)

.... As per the published calendar in Sri Lanka, September 28th and 29th is Mercantile and the latter is a Poya holidays, therefore they are not additional. Therefore, we strongly deny the above statement which has been built up on misguided facts provided by your resources.

.... the company has no intention of announcing them as additional holidays. Therefore, we strongly deny such baseless allegations as the company was only working under the 05 day work week plan which has been duly authorized by the Commissioner General of Labour ....

As mentioned above, the company operates on a 5-day work plan, and during weekdays, an additional hour is required to cover the 05 hours for Saturday. According to the proposal and agreement with the Free Trade Zone and General Service Employee branch union, employees have worked this additional hour, and the company has accommodated this request of the union. Therefore, the company has adhered to the 5-day plan with the agreed-upon extra hour, as mutually established with the Free Trade Zone and General Service Employee union, ensuring no violation of workers' rights.

We strongly deny such baseless allegations, as the discussions were fully attended and negotiated with the Free Trade Zone and General Service Employee Branch Union, not with the Employee Council. The original plan of covering one hour and the company digesting one hour was brought up by the Free Trade Zone and General Services Employee Branch union which can be verified through your resources.

This above mentioned statement contains a totally fabricated incident, as it mentions 'two hours taken off their pay slips’ - the factory management has no knowledge of this, and there were no reports of any physical assault in the factory. Therefore, these two facts mentioned are completely denied .....

We strongly deny the statement, as the factory management is unaware of such an incident, and playing cricket was not done during working hours ....

In addition to that the Branch union members were facilitated for special duty leaves for their trainings as requested by the Free Trade Zone and General Service Union time to time.
