Fristads' response to allegations of abuses in Myanmar garment factories - October 2024 Update

[...]

However, we recognise that it has become increasingly difficult to conduct due diligence and effectively monitor the working conditions of suppliers in Myanmar under the current military regime. This was a significant factor in our decision in 2023 to cease all production activities in the country. Our production volumes in Myanmar were already minimal, with fewer than 7,000 pieces ordered in 2023, and did not justify maintaining a presence under the circumstances.

In agreement with our supplier, Fullway Myanmar Clothing, we implemented a phased and responsible exit strategy. This process began in June 2023 and concluded with our final shipment in November 2023. We are unable to provide input regarding the alleged incidents that occurred after our relationship with Fullway ended. However, we appreciate the opportunity to provide clarity regarding our position and actions. Please be assured that Fristads has no plans to manufacture in Myanmar in the future.
