In August 2020, while Honduras was facing one of the most severe periods of the Covid-19 pandemic, Delta Apparel laid off 430 workers. Honduran workers' leaders and social activists claim that most of those who have been dismissed had work-related musculoskeletal diseases or were pregnant; and that the Honduran government left them without support once it authorised companies to suspend employment contracts for up to four months under the guise of "saving jobs". Delta Apparel employees said that, since the suspension, they have been deprived of their holidays and that the company has begun massive layoffs, including the termination of contracts for pregnant women and people with chronic illnesses. We invited Delta Apparel to comment on the allegations and the company did so.
