Melitta response to CSO calls for coffee sector to "cease attacks" on EUDR
…As an international family-owned company with a tradition spanning more than 115 years, the Melitta Group expressly acknowledges its responsibility for sustainable development and transformation. In this framework, we actively support the objectives of the EU Deforestation Regulation.
The sustainable transformation of our company and its value creation is a central component of our corporate strategy, as detailed e.g. in our 2022 Sustainability Report (https://report.melitta[1]group.com/annual-report-2023/sustainability-report.html). We pursue a holistic approach based on three strategic dimensions: regenerative value creation, work culture, and social business.
In this context, we affirm that we:
- fully support the objectives of the EUDR as part of our transformation and have integrated them into our sustainability strategy…
- as an active member of the German Coffee Association (DKV e.V.) have supported and will continue to support all EUDR- and other sustainability-related activities in the respective working groups…
Our commitment to the respective activities of the German Coffee Association includes, among others:
- Conducting comprehensive risk analyses for our main supplier countries, including the annual joint risk analyses by the German Coffee Association
- Establishing a grievance mechanism for the coffee sector (www.ear4u.org)
- Initiating and supporting projects for the local establishment of grievance mechanisms…
- Actively supporting the development and implementation of EUDR-management tools…
