[PDF] The International Bill of Human Rights and IFC Policies and Performance Standards

In September 2009, IFC formally launched the review and update process [of its Policy and Performance Standards on Social and Environmental Sustainability and Policy on Disclosure of Information]...To understand whether the Standards had relevant human rights gaps, IFC reviewed various reference documents4 , and performed an analysis against applicable criteria in such documents…Overall, IFC confirmed that the multiple dimensions of rights in the economic, social and cultural areas have already been well addressed in the Standards (e.g., labor rights, health/pollution prevention, involuntary resettlement, cultural heritage)…The results of this gap analysis has been summarized in a matrix that shows the relationship between the rights in the International Bill of Human Rights and the Performance Standards.
