Response by Deutsche Bank
In general, for confidentiality reasons, Deutsche Bank AG (“DB”) cannot comment on any existing or potential client relationships. However, DB is firmly committed to respecting human rights and has been a member of the United Nations’ Global Compact for more than 20 years. Information on DB’s approach to upholding its responsibility to respect human rights, including our Statement on Human Rights, is published on our website.
With respect to client relationships, potential human rights risks are governed and opined on through DB’s bank-wide Environmental and Social Policy Framework. This Framework outlines our position on environmental and social issues, including human rights due diligence, and defines our procedures and responsibilities for risk identification, assessment, and decision-making. The Framework endorses international standards, such as the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. We adhere to our existing policies and controls when conducting business.
Regarding the human rights situation in Myanmar, we would also like to refer to our statement to the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre on this topic on December 6, 2021.
