Tea brands and retailers respond to allegations of rights abuses in the global supply chain
In August 2023, the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre asked Unilever, Lipton, Tetley, Starbucks, Finlays, Tetley, Tesco, Ringtons, Teasup and Marks & Spencer for responses to allegations of human rights abuses at tea estates and factories between December 2022 and August 2023. The estates and factories where abuses allegedly occurred were linked to tea buyers using each company's most recently available supplier list. Full responses are included below.
