UK: Tesco challenged on use of social auditing

Retail giant Tesco will today be challenged on its use of social auditing at its annual meeting over a lawsuit in which supply chain garment workers claim they were trapped in forced labour conditions.

Representatives from the Labour Behind the Label campaign group will accuse the company of putting the workers who make their clothes at risk of abuse.

The forced labour lawsuit was brought against Tesco and social audit firm Intertek by 130 Burmese garment workers at a VK Garment factory in Thailand which produced F&F jeans for the retailer.
