USA: ASARCO is facing a complaint filed by the United Steel Workers Union for alleged unfair labor practices

The union representing workers at the Silver Bell mine has submitted a formal complaint regarding labor practices. According to the complaint shared by the association, ASARCO has recently decided not to acknowledge the United Steel Workers Union, citing insufficient membership as the reason for non-recognition. However, the union's response letter argues that this action is unlawful. The United Steel Workers Union asserts that they still maintain majority support among the bargaining employees and suggests that any claim by ASARCO regarding the loss of majority status is unreliable due to the company's own unfair labor practices.

We invited Grupo Mexico, the parent company of the Silver Bell mine, to comment on these allegations. The company did not provide a response.
