Indonesia: Multiple garment factories lay off workers amid reduced or non-existent buyer orders; incl. co. responses
In June 2023, it was reported that multiple garment factories (Duniatex, Agungtex Group, PT Kabana, PT Pismatex, PT Sai Apparel, PT Pulaumas, PT Adetex, PT Nikomas Gemilang and PT Chingluh, ) were laying off workers amid reduced or non-existent buyer orders.
In March 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited adidas (allegedly sourcing from PT Nikomas), Nike (allegedly sourcing from PT Nikomas and PT Chingluh) and Under Armour (allegedly sourcing from PT Nikomas) to respond, and in July 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited H&M, s.Oliver, Kmart Australia, Target Australia, C&A and American Eagle Outfitters (allegedly sourcing from Sae Apparels) to respond.
