Response from Vedanta Resources to People Power Under Pressure: HRDs & Business in 2023 Report

We wish to clarify that Vedanta has never had any bauxite mining operations in the Niyamgiri mountains of Odisha. It is therefore wholly inaccurate and misleading to link us to bauxite mining in the region or the activities of any related groups or individuals.

With regards to the public hearing on our Sijimali bauxite mining project, we emphasize the importance of ensuring impartial public hearings as part of free prior informed consent for the project's approval process. Conducting public hearings in a democratic and lawful manner falls under the jurisdiction of state authorities, and we fully respect and abide by their autonomy in organising the same.

We reiterate that the company adheres only to the highest standards of corporate responsibility, transparency, and governance, and is committed to having a positive impact on the communities where we operate.
