Singapore: Death of migrant construction worker at site owned by Hong Hock Global "raises concerns" over safety protocols; co. did not respond

In October 2023, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Hong Hock Global to respond to a report of a worker’s death at a construction site owned by the company. Reporting by The Independent Singapore stated the incident “has raised concerns about the safety protocols at the construction site”, putting the incident into the context of hazardous conditions documented more generally in Singapore's construction industry. The Resource Centre also invited Hong Hock Global to outline how it ensures contractors adhere to safety and labour standards at sites it owns; the company did not respond.

The worker was reportedly employed by Alliance E&C. The Resource Centre was not able to find contact information for the company to invite a response to the allegations; if a response is received in future this page will be updated accordingly.
