Airbus' response

28 October 2024

Thank you for providing Airbus with the opportunity to respond to the queries you raised following the Justice for Myanmar report concerning Airbus and its relationship with Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) in the context of AVIC’s alleged supply of defence products to the military junta in Myanmar.

Airbus is also concerned about the conflict in Myanmar and the allegations of human rights abuses.

AVIC is a Chinese state-owned group of civil aviation, aerospace and defence companies, Airbus has a minority (5%) investment in one of AVIC's affiliates (AviChina Industry & Technology Company Ltd). Airbus has held this minority stake for more than two decades as part of a long-term strategic partnership with the Chinese civil aviation industry. Our collaboration is not related to military aircraft or weapons, as suggested by the report you reference. Airbus’ business activities with Chinese companies are exclusively focused on civil aviation and services.

Airbus has not supplied defence products to Myanmar or its armed forces.

Airbus is firmly committed to conducting business ethically, based on our values, and in  compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Respect for human rights is an essential part of our approach to responsible business conduct throughout our business activities and across our value chain.

For further information on Airbus’ approach to respecting human rights, see the Human Rights Policy Statement on the Airbus website.

We hope this clarifies Airbus’ position.
