The deceased was identified as Rasel Hawlader, 26...

Rasel's colleague, Abu Sufian, said: "Rasel and I live in the same house and work at the same garment factory. I learned that the police fired on workers who were protesting for their wages and allowances. My colleague Rasel got shot in the chest. They rushed him to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital in Tongi, and then to the emergency department at DMCH for better treatment. However, the attending doctor declared him dead."...

Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) South Deputy Commissioner (Detective) Mohammad Ibrahim Khan said, "We had to fire tear gas and rubber bullets to control the situation. It is not certain whether Russell was killed in the shooting. We will know once our investigation concludes.”.

Several clashes broke out between police and RMG workers on Monday, when they staged a protest to demand a salary hike of Tk23,000 in Savar.

At least 25 people, including workers and policemen, sustained injuries during incidents involving brick-throwing, tear gas deployment, and police gunfire.
