Cargill's response on alleged involvement with soy farmers linked to land conflicts and human rights abuses

Cargill's purpose is to nourish the world safely, responsibly and sustainably...

To identify supply chain risks and target interventions as effectively as possible, we must understand where the soybeans we buy come from and how they were produced. That is why the mapping of soybean suppliers was one of the main points of attention in the last two years. We started mapping our direct supply chain with polygonal farm boundaries. We have achieved progress in the highest priority areas: direct producers in the states of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia (Matopiba), as well as in the Cerrado biome in general. We concluded mapping with polygons of Matopiba in June, and the goal is to finish the entire Cerrado. We will continue to expand polygon mapping to the entire soybean supply chain in South America. This work, combined with state-of-the-art technologies, will allow us to monitor activity in the field and respond more quickly to problems...

Cargill is striving for a more sustainable soy supply chain, helping to solve the urgent challenge of protecting native forests and vegetation, while supporting farmers and their communities. Supply chain sustainability is a priority issue for Cargill, and soybean production is no exception. We expect this same level of commitment from our suppliers, which means acting in accordance with our Sustainable Soy Policy. When we identify complaints against producers in our chain we immediately investigate through a formal due diligence process and take the actions set out in our Supplier Code of Conduct?
