Leoni response re Egyptian worker strikes over low wages

... End of January 2023, however some employees in our production location Nasr City stopped working provoking an entire manufacturing interruption. This strike was not decided by the responsible labor unions. Our other locations in Badr City and Asiout were working without disturbance.

Even after listening to the envolved employees and answering their inquiries, work could not be resumed properly due to missing workforce. This led to the presence of the directors of the labor office under the guidance and follow-up of the Ministry of Manpower and the relevant authorities, who confirmed the suspension was described as "illegal strike", in accordance with Egyptian law. Leoni does clearly respect unions rights, but cannot accept illegal strikes within its premises...
