s.Oliver's response to 'Who pays for the crisis' tracker allegations - March 2024

[...]

Concerning the allegations that you have shared with us regarding the supplier Dird Composite Textiles, we can state the following:

  • We have been working with Dird Composite Textiles until September 2023, when the factory halted production due to financial issues connected to its mother company Dird Group. At this point, Dird Group had already closed several other of its factories.
  • We have been following the case closely, in alignment with other brands and our partners at the Fair Wear Foundation, to ensure that workers will receive a severance payment. We have also communicated this requirement directly to the factory management.
  • In December 2023 we were informed that an agreement between worker representatives and the factory management was found, agreeing to pay out a severance payment to workers through multiple instalments over the course of the next months.
  • We have since been following the case closely and to our current state of knowledge, the agreed upon payments to workers have so far been carried out as planned.

While we do not believe that our purchasing practices have contributed to this situation due to the circumstances described above regarding Dird Group, we acknowledge the importance of fair and responsible purchasing practices within the industry, which is why we are a part of the Multi-Stakeholder Initiative Common Framework for Responsible Purchasing Practices and have also developed and published a first Responsible Purchasing Policy on our website in 2023.

We will continue to follow this case closely with our team in Bangladesh and together with our partners.
