In July 2024, a migrant nurse from India working for British care company Clinica Private Healthcare won a "significant" payout in a case alleging various labour rights violations. These included hiring him, failing to provide work and firing him. The company was ordered to pay nearly GBP17,000 in unpaid wages and to continue paying his salary until his claim for unfair dismissal is resolved. The worker had also paid a recruitment agent in India GBP22,000 to obtain the job.

The nurse's lawyer stated the case showed that redress for migrant workers alleging wrongdoing by other employers who also hire workers through the same visa scheme was possible.

NGO The Work Rights Centre told Thomson Reuters Foundation it was helping three other migrant workers with claims related to other companies and more than 60 people had approached it with similar experiences this year.
