On 11 August 2014, Press TV published allegations that "cameras and high tech control boards" manufactured by the Japanese company Sony had been used in Israeli missles that had bombed the Gaza strip.

On 12 September 2014, Sony informed the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre that it would not respond to the allegations.

In an article published on 8 September 2014 in the Japanese daily broadsheet Tokyo Shimbun (article not freely available on the internet), Sony is quoted as having stated that the company "does not design, manufacture, or sell weapons or any products intended for use in weapons".
