The Children's Rights and Business Principles were developed by UNICEF, Save the Children and the United Nations Global Compact.  The aim of the initiative was to develop "the first comprehensive set of principles to guide companies on the full range of actions they can take in the workplace, marketplace and community to respect and support children’s rights."

The initiative was launched in June 2010.  The global release of the Principles was held on 12 March 2012 in London.

An international consultation on the principles with all sectors took place through to July 2011 – see below for details.

I. International consultation - in-person events and online

The initiative launched a global consultation on the principles in May 2011, with adults and also with children and adolescents.  It included in-person events and an online consultation.  The consultation is now closed.

Details of the online consultation are here, along with background material about the initiative including a project overview, the draft principles [DOC], and a mapping of children's rights and business.  All the consultation material is available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
